MTNA/OMTA
Ms. Sallee has been a member of Music Teachers National Association since 1987 and became nationally certified (NCTM) in 1988. Through her tenure she has served as chairman of various OMTA and Scholarship Auditions and served as President of the Central Oklahoma Music Teachers for three years. She has also served as MTNA Foundation and the Communities Foundation of Oklahoma (CFO) Chair on the OMTA Board. For two years she served as President-elect where she was responsible for planning two OMTA state conferences. From 2004-06, she served as President and currently serves as Immediate-Past President. In 2007, she was made a MTNA Foundation Fellow (by OMTA) at the MTNA Collaborative Conference in Toronto.
ACDA/OCDA
As a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) since 2003, Mary and has attended numerous national and division conventions. She has served as accompanist for various selection committees, recording sessions, honor choirs and reading sessions.
Rotary International
In 1996, Mary joined the Norman Sooner Rotary Club and has had perfect attendance ever since. She has served her club as pianist since 1998 and has served on the Board of Directors for two years in the capacity of Fellowship Chair and NEXUS Chair. As a previous Ambassadorial Scholar, she has spoken and featured as the entertainer for various district conferences in both the United States and Austria.
In recent years, she has entertained for several special events including banquets hosting the International Presidents of Rotary. In 2004, she was featured in concert with former Miss America, Susan Powell at the District 5770 Conference held in Elk City.
Mary is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and recipient of the Nancy Chess Community Service Award.
Sigma Alpha Iota Professional Music Fraternity
While in graduate school at OU, Ms. Sallee served her college chapter as president and received the Ruby Sword of Honor for her leadership skills. Later, she became a founding member of the Norman Alumnae Chapter. In 1995. she helped organize the Nancy Neal Piano Scholarship and continued to chair the competition in Norman for many years.
In 2004, her one piano-four hands duet, Happy Birthday, SAI! was selected as a winning composition in the Centennial Composition Contest and was later featured at the SAI National Convention held in Ann Arbor, MI.
