Ms. Sallee has been performing as a free-lance dinner pianist since her early years in high school. Later in college, she was the regular evening pianist in the lobby of the old Skirvin Plaza Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City. While studying in Vienna, she performed regularly for the coffee hour at the Hotel Rainer and was later featured once a week at the Stardust Supper Club in the Vienna opera district.
Since 1986, she has performed throughout the Oklahoma City metro for a variety of audiences. Her private audiences have included Bill Cosby, Joe Nameth and Pope John Paul, II, to name a few. With her capacity to play by ear, she is at home with any style of music which allows her to play the audiences requests, from the classics to pop, Broadway favorites to jazz standards, gospel and western folk.
In addition to performing for wedding ceremonies or graduation exercises, she offers special rates for an adjoining reception following the event. Since 1990, Ms. Sallee has performed with several jazz groups across the metro area. In 1996, her own quintet was featured for Norman's Jazz in June Festival. In recent years, her groups have entertained for Jazz in June kick-offs and fund raisers, including both years of Jurassic Jazz at the Sam Noble Museum. Mary's groups entertain for private functions as well as annual civic events including Norman Chamber's Business After Hours, Sam Noble Museum fundraisers, Assistance League and Wine Tasting fundraisers such as Le Tour de Vin, Jazz in June fundraising events and receptions for the Canterbury Choral Society.
